Frejus Local History Museum

Journey to the heart of the history of Fréjus. The local history museum: a living museum in a 16th century mansion

In this former 16th-century mansion, the history of our ancestors is revealed through objects and testimonies. Memories of a bygone era come to life here, with costumes, work scenes and poignant testimonies.

The history of Fréjus is revealed through the ages and allows you to discover its most authentic facets.

From the entrance, a warm atmosphere immerses you in the soul of Provence, between culture, traditions and working the land.
In this historic house, listed as a Historic Monument, the museum traces the great moments of local history.
You will discover daily life at the beginning of the 20th century, the tragedy of Malpasset, as well as local festivals and crafts.
Visitors can explore a reconstruction of a school period, commercial objects from the 30s and 40s and a farrier's workshop.

The Fréjus local history museum: a museum where history and emotion meet, between the tragedy of Malpasset and the art of Dominique Zumbo

Thus, the soul of the city is revealed through poignant exhibitions, such as the one dedicated to the tragedy of Malpasset.

In addition, moving testimonies highlight the devastating impact of this tragic event, which deeply marked the city and its inhabitants.

Furthermore, ceramics occupy an important place, with the creations of Dominique Zumbo, notably his pieces with metallic reflections inspired by Art Nouveau.

In every room and in front of every object, you are invited to feel the history and hear the voices of the past.

It is a place rich in emotion and discoveries, where the history of Fréjus comes to life before your eyes.

Ultimately, this museum transports you back in time, allowing you to dream about lives of yesteryear and the traditions that shaped them.
