Tribute Space in Fredericksburg
The Villa-Marie Park is home to several symbols of the friendship between Fréjus and Fredericksburg (USA):
- the 35th anniversary commemorative medallion,
- the carillon, inaugurated in 2023,
both offered by the Fredericksburg Twinning Committee,
As well as a pecan tree planted in March 2019 as part of a partnership between the Fréjus Reception and Twinning Committee and the Les Pacaniers de Jefferson association, in tribute to Thomas JEFFERSON, President of the United States who stayed in Fréjus.
Twinning agreements, true friendship pacts between cities in different countries, have allowed Fréjus to broaden its horizons. In 1963, with the signing of the Élysée Treaty, the mayors of Fréjus and Triberg (Germany) initiated a strong and open relationship between their citizens. This initial exchange laid the foundation for new international collaborations with various cities, including Fredericksburg.
This collaboration, born from a desire to exchange and share common values, allows the inhabitants of the two cities to discover each other, to forge strong links and to enrich their respective cultures.
The Twinning Committee is also involved in many other areas: school exchanges, music, preservation of traditions, exhibitions, conferences, theme evenings, balls, trips, etc.
