Trail – Trail Hermès Estérel (10km)

From the A8 motorway, take exit 38 and turn left at the roundabout towards Cannes / Mandelieu. Continue for 2 km until you reach a roundabout, the entrance to the Cocteau park is just opposite.

>ITINERARY
From the Chapelle Cocteau car park, go behind the gate and immediately take the path that goes off to the right. Follow it to the left to go along the trees until you reach a wider path.

Continue right, pass the electricity pylon and at the next crossroads, take the Voie Aurélienne which goes up on the left and joins the Route d'Italie. At the road, turn right and continue straight down to the Pont de la Becasse. Cross the bridge towards Agay / Saint-Raphaël and take the path immediately on the left.

Go up the Val des Cèdres and continue until you reach the Piste du Porfait, a crossroads of several intersections. Continue straight to join the Piste Castelli and continue for about 1,1km in the Vallon de Barban. At the second hairpin bend on the right, a grove of mimosa trees is on your left. Take the path that goes into this grove between the 2 hills. At the next intersection, turn right to go back up the hillside, then turn left to join the Piste de l'Essuyadou 1,25km further on.

At this crossroads, turn left. Enjoy the view of the sea and continue until a hairpin bend on the left at the bottom of the valley and shortly after, follow the path which goes off on your right to reach the top of the hill above you.

Once at the top of the ridge, at the intersection, continue straight until you reach the Pas de la Louve, at the intersection with the Route d'Italie. Cross the road and continue straight ahead to go back down to the wooded area you started from. Take the path back to your car park. Take the opportunity to make a detour to the Cocteau Chapel; listed as a Historic Monument (closed on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays / Entrance: €3).

This route follows the Trail Hermès Estérel in Fréjus. You can do it all year round, but participation in the official event takes place once a year (usually in April) and requires a paid registration. More information on www.trailhermes.fr
