Fréjus with the family is…

The guided tour “FRÉJUS, ROMAN CITY”
You may think " Another guided tour; we're going to be bored! ».
But not at all: for us it is THE BASIS.
We cannot be here without knowing that Fréjus is a two-thousand-year-old city. That it was one of the largest ports in the Mediterranean in Roman times. That its arenas (even if the word "scientific" is "amphitheater") saw gladiator and wild beast fights, concerts by SANTANA, David BOWIE…, tennis and pétanque competitions… That we recreated a real Roman legion…

02
THE CLOISTER OF FRÉJUS, comic strip version
Built between the 5th and 16th centuries on the site of the ancient city of Fréjus, the cathedral complex includes four buildings: the episcopal palace (transformed today into City Hall), the cathedral, the baptistery (one of the oldest in France, it is also one of the best preserved) and finally the canonical ensemble of which the cloister is an integral part.

03
PICNIC AT THE NATURE BASE, playground for children
The Nature Base, on the seafront, next to Port-Fréjus, has not always had this evocative name, which makes this 135-hectare site between the sea and the historic center the largest green belt in the heart of a city in France!
Returned to public space, the naval air base became the Nature Base in 2007, with 85 hectares of protected natural spaces for outdoor enthusiasts, bordered by a 1,5 kilometer long fine sand beach.

04
THE GROUPER TRAIL, exploration between land and sea
The “Sentiers du Mérou” bring together two educational trails, on land and underwater, enhanced with fun modules to raise public awareness about protecting the sea and the need to conserve marine biodiversity.
For the sea version, no need for sophisticated equipment: mask, fins and snorkel (for the most chilly, a wetsuit!) will be enough to explore the submerged works present under each buoy that you see floating (crabs, jellyfish, sea snakes) which all have a BIOHUT at their heart, in order to serve as a habitat and protection for fish larvae in this sandy area.

05
The essential ESTEREL
The Esterel massif stretches across the East Var like a sleeping giant of 32 hectares made of ochre stones and steep rocks. It has always formed a natural barrier for the men who live at its feet.
A refuge for hermits, bandits and painters who loved the tranquillity of the wilderness, it is now a peaceful place of pilgrimage, where Sunday strollers, hikers, mountain bikers and nature conservationists rub shoulders.
The Esterel is our essential, just like the sea that borders it. These two elements accompany the life of the people of Fréjus and they never leave tourists indifferent.

06
The BIGGEST Sunday MARKET
The market takes up residence on the seafront every Sunday. It sells fruits and vegetables, local and producer products, cheese, fish and seafood, butcher's products and delicatessen products, flowers and plants as well as clothing, utensils, furniture, toys and other non-food products.
A popular place for strolling among the people of Fréjus, who come here to do their shopping, it is not possible to imagine a break on the terrace: coffee before starting the visit or afterwards, with an aperitif. The ideal: treat yourself to a gourmet brunch while enjoying the rays of the sun before diving into the beautiful blue sea.
