Randonnée : Boucle du Barrage de Malpasset

This hike will allow you to discover one of the most striking sites in the city of Fréjus: the Malpasset dam. It burst on December 2, 1959, constituting one of the greatest French civil disasters of the XNUMXth century.

Description

> ACCESS
From the motorway roundabout in Fréjus (Exit 38), follow the sign for “Barrage de Malpasset”.

Follow the D37 to the car park located under the A8 motorway.

Parking under the A8

> ITINERARY
From the car park under the A8, head towards the barrier and the sign indicating the Malpasset site.

Follow this path. Take the first fork on the right. This path takes you to the foot of the dam. Along the way, admire the many concrete blocks and
iron belonging to the old dam structure.

Once at the dam site, follow the path on the right to cross it and go to the other side. Cross the Reyran torrent and follow the path on
approximately 320 meters, until reaching the DFCI tank indicating the intersection
with the Malpasset road. Turn left.

Continue along the bends of the Route du Malpasset until you reach the promontory
overlooking the dam. From here, the view of the dam structure is impressive! Continue along this same track to reach your point of
departure.
