Statue Sieyès

Abbé Sieyès was undoubtedly one of the most important figures of his time.
Author of texts and pamphlets that greatly contributed to triggering the French Revolution, drafter of the Constitution and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, he already had a well-stocked CV. Later he met General Bonaparte with whom he organized the coup d'état of 18 Brumaire. Unfortunately for Sieyès, Bonaparte did not intend to share the power he had just acquired. Our man was therefore quickly pushed aside while Napoleon rose and became emperor.
But the people of Fréjus have not forgotten him! On the occasion of the bicentenary of the Revolution, the city commissioned the sculptor Polska to design this bronze and slate statue.
