An exceptional celestial phenomenon

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, obscuring all or part of our star. The one on August 12, 2026, will long be remembered: in Fréjus, nearly 96% of the Sun's surface was obscured at the peak of the phenomenon. A partial eclipse of such magnitude, observable as the Sun was descending towards the horizon, offered a spectacle as rare as it was exceptional.

The Tourist Office teams are in the front row.

To immortalize this celestial event, the teams from the Tourist Office visited various iconic locations in the area. From the seafront in Saint-Aygulf to Mont Vinaigre, the highest point of the Estérel massif, each team was able to enjoy a unique panorama and capture magnificent photos of the eclipse.

Solar eclipse in Fréjus

When the sky over Fréjus ignites

As the minutes passed, the sky was adorned with orange and gold hues, creating a striking crescent of light above the Fréjus landscape. Between the sea, the hills, and the blazing horizon, nature offered us a truly spectacular visual display, as ephemeral as it was captivating.
