The world's elite of pétanque face Fréjus and the Mediterranean

Fréjus, an essential bastion of pétanque, by hosting the biggest national and international competitions each year (Coupe de France des Clubs, Grande Finale PPR, Pétanque Masters, etc.) has earned its titles of nobility...

It is here, on the Côte d'Azur, that the city asserts its status as the Côte d'Azur Capital of Pétanque. But it is the "Mondial de Pétanque" that crystallizes all the passions. Rivaling the prestigious Marseillaise (the only competition with Fréjus to be able to claim the title of "mondial"), this competition brings together the biggest names. Talent, precision and strategy intertwine, offering a ballet of millimeter-perfect gestures. Each end is a demonstration of mastery, under the captivated gaze of the public. Eyes riveted on the ball, shortness of breath, the atmosphere tenses, relaxes...

You will be caught up in this game of silence and strategy, where each shot, each point, makes the whole of Provence vibrate. Here, pétanque is not just a sport. It is a passion, a tradition, an art of living.

The Fréjus International Pétanque

In the world of pétanque, it is nicknamed the "PSG of Pétanque", as its players accumulate titles: world, European, French champions... The list is endless, and many clubs dream of equaling Fréjus. But the Frejus International Petanque (FIP) is not just a collection of trophies. The FIP, as it is called in the industry, is above all a team of men driven by a deep passion. Each player embodies the love of the game, the desire to surpass themselves, to never give up. How many times have they turned around a poorly started lead, only to finally get those coveted 13 points?

The FIP is also a state of mind, values that reflect those of the city of Fréjus. Generosity, simplicity, proximity... Here, we share everything: the boules, the advice, and even a game with an opponent, whatever their level. Always with that smile, that sparkle in the eyes, signs of authentic pleasure. Being a FIP player also means claiming your Provençal roots. With that good-natured friendliness, mixed with the discreet pride of a job well done. Here, each game is a tribute to the game, but also a total respect for the public, accomplice of each victory, witness to each strong moment. As you will have understood, the FIP is not just a team, it is a real family, where the passion for pétanque and the love of sharing are lived at every moment.

Petanque for the uninitiated

Pétanque is a traditional Provençal game that is usually played outdoors. The goal is simple: throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a “cochonnet”. The game is played individually (one against one) or in teams of two (doublettes) or three (triplettes). Each player or team has several balls.

In each round, players throw their boules, trying to get as close as possible to the jack or to dislodge their opponent's boules. When all the boules have been thrown, the team whose boule is closest to the jack scores a point for each boule better placed than the opponent's best boule. The game is generally played to 13 points.

Pétanque requires precision, strategy, and good team spirit, while offering a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
